Family Planning Services
We offer pill checks, oral contraceptive advice, depot injections and coil checks.
Nurses primarily deal with contraceptive care but doctors can assist when nurse appointments are not available. All our doctors provide contraceptive care by individual appointment.
The practice carries out immunisation for travel abroad. Please enquire at reception six to eight weeks before departure.
Our doctors provide a minor surgery service within the practice. This means that you may not have to go to hospital for some small operations or special injections. Your doctor can advise you about this.
Well Person Checks
Where they carry out blood pressure checks (this should be done every two years for adults) and offer advice on lifestyle issues, for example alcohol consumption, smoking, diet and exercise.
Well Women Checks
As above with the addition of advice on problems concerning women's health in particular. They can also provide tuition on breast self-examination.
Heart Disease Prevention
Where assessment can be made of the risk factors likely to provoke coronary disease. Advice is given on lifestyle measures aimed at preventing problems emerging in the future.
At KCPCC we have clinics that help monitor and advice our patients with Diabetes.
Having the right care is essential for the wellbeing of all people with diabetes. As well as looking after yourself, there are 15 vital checks and services that everyone with diabetes, whatever type, should get for free from our Specilist Diabeties Nurse or visit https://www.diabetes.org.uk/ for the list of the 15 vital checks.
You can use this list to talk to your healthcare team about your individual needs as part of your annual care planning review. This is where you should agree your priorities, discuss your personal targets and agree a written plan of action to help you reach them. We have a recall system to in all our patients annually, if you would like to our healthcare team before your annual review, than call the reception desk.
The treatments available for asthma are effective for most people. You should
have training from your GP or Practice Nurse in how to use your device. At KCPCC we offer you how and guideance and help monitor your condition.
Where reminders are sent out every three to five years for women aged between 25 to 64 years:-
- Three years for women aged 25-49
- Five years for 50-64.
- 65+: Only screen those who have not been screened since age 50 or have had recent abnormal tests

We recommend an influenza immunisation to all patients aged 65 or over and patients with chronic heart, lung or kidney disease, diabetes and asthma and residents of nursing and rest homes or a carer. This is usually available during October and November and clinics are run during this time. Please ask at Reception for details.
Immunisation with pneumococcal vaccine (Pneumovax), which is a one off vaccination, is also available and currently recommended for the over 65’s and those with chronic illness. This can be done at the same time as the ’flu vaccination.
All patients are encouraged to keep their tetanus immunity up to date; after the initial course of 5 tetanus vaccinations has been given, no further vaccination should be required unless there has been a major injury or travel to a remote area with limited access to medical facilities is planned. Single dose tetanus is no longer available – it is now a combination shot called Revaxis which combines tetanus, diphtheria and polio.
Adults at risk should make an appointment with the Practice Nurse for other immunisations such as hepatitis A and B and meningococcus A and C.
The midwives hold weekly ante-natal clinics.
From April 2016, the practice is able to offer all patients details of the NEW STOP SMOKING SERVICE provided by Solutions4Health.
